You’ll join two other talented CO-OP students to form a team that experiments and innovates with modern technology.
As a team, you’ll develop an experimental product from idea to release.
You’ll be mentored and helped along the way and will demo your product to management at the end of your 16-week internship.
The format of this 16-week internship program acts as a sandbox for talented and innovative students like you to reach their full potential. Teams of 3 students work independently on an experimental project for a project sponsor through our CDH Studio.

We are living in a constant state of change with new technology emerging every day. The CDH Studio will be a sandbox for students to play with new technology and an opportunity for students to gain insight into emerging technology.
Your team will be paired with volunteer mentors allowing you to learn and grow together.
CDH Studio is an elite internship program organized by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). ISED works with Canadians in all areas of the economy and in all parts of the country to improve conditions for investment, enhance Canada's innovation performance, increase Canada's share of global trade and build a fair, efficient and competitive marketplace.
CDH Studio is located at ISED HQ inside Ottawa's iconic C.D. Howe Building.
CDH is named after influential Canadian politician and engineer, C.D. Howe. During his time in office, he modernized many Canadian industries and took part in establishing Canadian icons such as CBC and Air Canada. We hope to bring his inspiration, drive, and innovation to our projects and students.
You will work in a team to propose and implement an idea to solve a real business issue provided, within the four month period.
Interns will be responsible for scoping their project, building it from scratch, and working with sponsor stakeholders, and mentors along the way
The team will develop and showcase working features in two week iterations and showcase their final product to the project sponsor, the executive team, and other full-time employees at the end of the internship.
The proposed timeline of the project will be as follows:
You’ll work with your team to select a project related to innovation and cutting edge technology
Students prepare a project proposal that
You’ll work as a Scrum team to collaboratively build, test, and iterate your idea. You’ll communicate daily with your team and mentor.
You'll prepare a formal presentation and present your solution to the management team.
We’ll expect you to
You’ll head back to school or into the workplace with real-world experience building and releasing something from the ground up. You’ll also have an opportunity to impress managers at a leading government department.
Full-time student registered in a post-secondary CO-OP/internship program
In Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems, or another technical programs
Experience in programming from previous jobs or side projects
